Lap 9 – Larry Sproule (Chevelle) blew engine. Bill Godfrey also out on lap 9. Hardesty caught up in the oil. Slight damage repaired in pits. Got back to within six seconds of George Stuart in lead but retired when the throttle spring broke. Lap 25 John Rothwell out. Stuart in lead until lap 44 when he went high to avoid a spinner. Forsythe went low and into the lead. Lap 52 Chuck Little (Spokane, second quick at 15.71) pitted with a flat. Lap 57 Al Mullet out with broken steering link.
