Sunday movie
A t.v. show actually. Roger Moore passed away this past week. Here he is from The Saint with a racing episode.

1969 racing movie, Pit Stop (originally called The Winner)
Lurid (for its time) racing movie that features lots of figure-eight racing action as well as some other stock car racing. George Barris makes a brief appearance about 44 minutes into it.
Some mushy stuff but the racing makes up for that ickiness.

New Year's Day movie
Pretty awful but some some good archival footage. And Richard Petty does have some (a lot actually) speaking lines.
Best line, though, goes to Buddy Baker: "I'm so mad I could spit."

movie posters
I've heard that the Clova theatre in Cloverdale is closing at the end of the summer. Too bad. I never saw a car movie there. Saw a few other things though.
If they made a hot rod double bill, I'd go.

Rush, the movie
Saw it a couple weeks ago. I see it's still in the theaters. Well, that's good.
Not a bad movie, better than many racing movies. When it comes out on DVD I'll grab a copy. Or suggest someone get it for me for Christmas. ;-)
Also read Niki Lauda's book from the late 1970s. Found it earlier this year at what seems to have been a bargain price (although still above the listed cover price from back in the day).
Again, pretty good.

The Green Helmet, 1961
Amazingly I can't find a clip, let alone the movie trailer, for this 1961 movie. Looks like a few sports cars from the SCCBC were at the Lougheed Drive-In to promote the movie and the races.
