Wild short (53 minutes) movie. From the UK. Features Wilfrid Brambell who was also in A Hard Day's Night playing Paul's grandad ("he's very clean").

How bad could it be? Okay, it's a kids' movie. Pretty dire. But I'm easily amused.



It even played in Vancouver back in 1964.

Art Pollard up in Edmonton in 1962

Art Pollard made the long haul from Oregon up to Edmonton for the Gold Cup. He won a couple of those and eventually got on the USAC Championship trail. Just one of a handful of drivers from the northwest who graduated from the modified circuit (eventually CAMRA) to the big time.

Quite famous drag racing team, the Dragins, from Spokane, from back in 1962 made it to Pacific Raceways.

Jerry Day, northwest legend

Jerry Day is writing a series of articles in Vintage Oval Racing about building a Ranger sprint car.

He mentioned in the last article about having a fiberglass business. Here's a story from North West Rod News from 1962 on the same.

Pat Piggott, Bellingham racer

Pat Piggott (hope I have the correct spelling of his name) raced a few things over the years. Stock cars and motorcycles in the early years. But he was making a name for himself in sports cars before he lost his life in a racing accident.

Owner Guy Duelin and driver Swede Smith, in the late 1920s probably.

And the Battered Cup given out at the recent Mission Historics. A couple from Calgary got it after they had motor problems. A long tow for only a few laps of fun.

sad news -- Jerry Grant

Not in the loop so this information is a day or three late.

Northwest racer Jerry Grant passed away Sunday. He raced at Westwood amongst other tracks before having a successful Indy car career.

Ralph Monhay, and two of his vintage cars, will be at PGARA Speedway this weekend. Ralph will have the No. 33 and Al Levien the No. 12.

Walter Wolf at the BC Historics, 2012

Walter Wolf owned a few Formula One cars and had a few pretty famous drivers at the wheel of those cars. He was a special guest at the BC Historics this year.
