Saturday morning sock hop
A bit noisier (or a more modern type of noise) than normal. With some video from the drag races at Abbotsford airport in the 1950s.

Saturday morning sock hop
I've got a recording that has over 30 versions and variations of Hot Rod Race/Lincoln. That boogie riff gets embedded pretty deep after a while.
Here is Dorse Lewis, The Scared Coal Miner, and The Shadow Mountain Boys doing "Hot Rod Boogie".

Can't Catch Me (Langley Speedway) exhibit
I posted the poster for this exhibit last week. Here are some photos of what you can see.
The exhibit lasts until August 9th at the Centennial Museum in Fort Langley (9135 King St, Fort Langley) just a couple blocks east of Glover. It's by the Farm Machinery Museum and a block short of the old Fort itself.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Sunday. Admission is by donation.
Lots to see and eat in the area. A good place for an afternoon visit.

1969 racing movie, Pit Stop (originally called The Winner)
Lurid (for its time) racing movie that features lots of figure-eight racing action as well as some other stock car racing. George Barris makes a brief appearance about 44 minutes into it.
Some mushy stuff but the racing makes up for that ickiness.

some more 1961 Westwood reports from Competition Press
A couple more race reports from Westwood that appeared in Competition Press during the 1961 season.
There was a motorcycle race at each meet as well. Something for everyone.

Shearing Speedway, odds and ends
An ad for the Benefit Race. And an odd item noting that Bruce Passmore (former owner of Langford Speedway and owner of Speedway Motors in Victoria) and Del Fanning set a "record" travelling from Seattle to Los Angeles.
