Corvettes, the new one in 1954 and the smaller one a couple years later
Dueck sponsored the big Vancouver Collector Car Show, Sale and Auction. Here's a couple old ads that feature the Corvette. In 1954 it was the new car. A couple years later you got a scaled version for those who bought a new Oldsmobile.

motorcycle scrambles, 1958
I'd seen an item saying there would be Canadian championships in Langley (then called Langley Prairie) but this is the first time I've seen any sort of result.
Not sure where in Langley this took place.

1958 rallies, etc., for the SCCBC
Between that time from the end of sports cars at Abbotsford Airport to the opening of Westwood the Sports Car Club of BC kept the enthusiasm going in 1958.
Not sure what this International Sports Car Rally is all about. Hopefully more research will provide the answer.

Billy Mathews, motorcycle champion
Billy Mathews won the Daytona motorcycle beach race a couple times. This is his 1950 win. At that point Billy was from Hamilton. He ended up on the west coast working for the guy who finished tenth that year, Trev Deeley.

Murray Chambers
Nice 1988 story about Murray Chambers. Good photographer and racer. Still has a car or two that he brings to show and shines.

the good and the sad of racing
June 11th marks the birthday of Sir Jackie Stewart, multi-time world champion grand prix driver, broadcaster, and at one point team owner.
It also marks the 68th anniversary of the terrible tragedy at Le Mans where 83 spectators and driver Peter Levegh died.
Racing has been called "the cruel sport" -- it can give tremendous highs but also tremendous lows.

A picture of a line-up of 1925 racers at Hastings Park. I've never seen this one before. It was reprinted in a 1954 Vancouver Sun.

not done, just busy with other things
Apologies: life and various other tasks that require more skill than I have take over. So a big gap in posts. And more gaps to come.
Again, apologies.
A 1954 ad for a fabled track that lasted not very long.
