Thunderbird Rally

The 2008 Thunderbird Rally is scheduled to run February 9th and 10th. Originally it was part of the University of British Columbia Sports Car Club, UBCSCC, calender but now is part of the West Coast Rally Association. One bit of clarification (my reason for existence!) needed is the first year of the rally. The above link says 1957. Could be. But the clipping from the UBC student newspaper, The Ubyssey, says the 1962 rally was the fourth annual. So was the first 1959?

We shall dig for more information. Out of the snow if necessary.
