Burnaby drag racer heads south, 1967

Ed Gray, super stock drag racer headed south for the World Finals in Tulsa, OK. I'm not sure if I have any data on how well he did.

(Oh yeah, happy Hallowe'en!)

racing that doesn't always need good weather, part three

Another event that can go in the rain. This one I remember as it happened near where I grew up in the south end of Langley. I never knew it as "Horne gravel pit", just as one of the gravel pits in the area. This one was just south of 28th Avenue, north of Campbell River (creek, we called it) and west of 200th Street (Carvolth Road).

racing that doesn't always need good weather, part two

Another wet weather event. (Not that I'm saying it rained that day. It might have been nice.)

racing that doesn't always need good weather, part one

First of a few 1967 posts. Late 1967. October and November, when it rains. Rains hard. Rains often. But you can do stuff in the rain.

Sunday cartoon

I will, I will, I promise I will get back to some sort of comic story. There's a King of the Mounted awaiting to be started. But first, Santa, here's what I want for Xmas.

Saturday flick

Abbott and Costello in Midget Car Maniacs. Was the end part of Buck Privates Come Home I believe. Pretty bad but perfect for a Saturday matinee.

False Creek Speedway photos, early 1960s

At the Langley Speedway Reunion in September I spent some time looking at Trevor Morgan's scrapbooks. He took photos of some tracks he attended and I took photos of those photos.

These two are from False Creek Speedway, circa 1960. No. 22 is Mel Keen, No. 64 is Norm Dahl (I think), No. 94 is probably Len Barcelo.

Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society October 18th, 2009

Big day. Weather tried to cooperate. Fewer cars on the field than last year but an interesting collection and lots of diversity.

The photo is of Pioneer Don Estridge. He raced power boats from the late 1950s to about 1980. Won stuff and definitely sounds like he had a good time doing it.

I know I should take more photos but I seemed to be busy doing other stuff.

Been a long stretch with nothing. I will get back to this on a regular basis shortly. A couple photos to try to kick start the process.
