ads from 1935

Jimmy Wilburn, who went onto great fame back east, got his start in the northwest. He did make it up to Victoria a couple times to race -- once in 1935 at The Willows, and another time in 1936 for the opening of Langford Speedway.

These ads come from 1935 after Wilburn won the Northwest racing title.

Mission, a couple weeks ago

The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful day out at Mission Raceway Park Saturday October 3rd. The Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society had auctioned off a ride with Irene Kokotailo over a year ago and it finally happened. Jay Trant (son of Peter Trant who won the auction but deferred the ride) got to go down the track two times with Irene at the wheel. Big smiles at the end of both runs.
