old photo with notes

Good thing I write stuff on the back of photos. If I didn't I'd not know what the heck they were about.

I can waste time finding out. But I already had done the work so why do it twice?

So, remember, pity the poor historian. Write stuff down on the back of photos. Your kids, your grandkids and future historians will thank you.

And to decipher my printing. It says: Back of Digney program. #77 Don Bennett, #83 Tom Romanchuck. B main. Locked wheels and went over the west wall. Saturday June 20, 1953.

So remember, print clearly as well.

BCTRA Motorama display 1963

A couple shots of the 1963 BCTRA display at the Motorama. The cars in the first photo are Moe Vaillant's, then Ken Wilcox', an unidentified car and then Don Bennett's. The 94 is Len Barcelo's modified.

two sides and the back of a modified

I'm sure I have a front shot but I was going through an album pulling duplicate photos and there wasn't a front end view of Don Bennett's 1963 Haney Speedway modified in the stack when I was done.

I remember taking the shots of these covers. The reflected glare from one tripod leg made it to the finished product.

A "pro" I'm not.

sad news

Heard recently that Frank Weiss, originally out of Alberta and having moved his business to the U.S., has passed away.

Frank William Weiss of Plainfield died Jan. 31. He was 69.

Born July 25, 1944, in Cardston Alberta, Canada, he was the son of William and Mary Aldridge Weiss. He married Marilyn Neilson on July 8, 1963, in Idaho. She survives. The couple has been married for 50 years.

Mr. Weiss was founder and president of Frank Weiss Racing Components in Indianapolis which was in business for 33 years. He drove at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and participated in USAC, CART, and Indy Car Series.

The first three photos are from the Indianapolis 500 Yearbook for 1980.

The fourth one is from Wheelspin in 1968.

The last is from 1973, the Spokane Daily Chronicle.
