cartoons

Pat Vidan, flagger from Oregon, who was official starter at Indianapolis from 1962 to 1979 was also a cartoonist. I'd heard he would do cartoons at the side of the track between races when he was still flagging in Oregon. Here's the first cartoon I've every seen by him.

Pat Vidan standing at the edge of the photo as Shorty Templeman gets a kiss from a trophy princess. Musician Woody Herman stands by to congratulate.

Cheers Don.

Tom Walther, RIP

Thirty years ago, in Japan, motorcycle racer Tom Walter lost his life. Noticed this memorial in today's newspaper.

A good link to Tom and his family's involvement in motorcycle racing.

(And, yes, I'm still here. Trying to sort out many things. Not giving up on much. Which makes this blog less of a priority. Hopefully this will change soon.)
