King beats The King

Can I write a drag racing headline or what?

Well, I think it's better than what the Everett Herald had in 1964 when Wayne King of the Doss-Clayton-King top fuel car won over Jerry "The King" Ruth at Arlington Airport.

Actually I'm not sure when Jerry Ruth got his "King" moniker. Wayne King was, and still is, dubbed "The Peregrine", a pretty regal looking hunting bird.

Enough, here's some links:

A story on Jerry Ruth by Phil Elliott.

The Doss-Clayton-King top fuel site.

A story on the recent appearance by Wayne and Herm Petersen and others at Abbotsford, BC.

Same story, different photos from Nitrogeezers.
