John Cowan, Langley Speedway

At the collector car show last weekend names got thrown out there, the usual have you ever heard of? Or do you remember?

John Cowan was one name. I've seen his name since I've investigated and researched Langley Speedway a bit but can't say I remember the no. 47 super stock. I guess I was too fixated on Gordy Hemrich in the no. 33 and John Rothwell in the no. 28.

So, yes, I've heard of John Cowan but no I don't remember him. Hope he's still around. Obviously a top racer at the time.

And who was "Miss Kimmie"?

(Photo is from the Shannon Rothwell collection of scrapbooks. The point standings courtesy of Dennis Lester. Thanks to both.)

Miss Kimmie would most likely be his daughter, Kimberly Cowan. I knew her growing up in Vancouver and we were good friends back in the day. I heard about her Dads racing days back then. Then being the late 70's. Super nice guy!
