Roy Smith lost his life when the fishing boat he was on capsized February 26, 2004. He would have turned 60 that August. At that point Roy had been inducted to the Victoria Motorsport Hall of Fame, Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame and Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.
